Logistics & Technical

The primary harbor of Ormos Iou offers excellent bathymetric contours with depths ranging between 5 to 9 meters over a predominant mud and sand bottom, providing outstanding holding ground. The bay yields superb shelter and is completely protected from the fierce summer Meltemi (northern gales). Navigators must exercise caution when entering the harbor due to the occasional heavy ferry wake and shallow patches near the northwestern shoals. Alternative anchorages in Manganari or Mylopotas bays offer good holding in sand but remain exposed to southerly and westerly swells respectively.
