Kumlubuk

Kumlubük is a wide and deep bay located on the outer edge of the Gulf of Marmaris, just south of Amos Bay. Technically, it offers excellent protection against northerly, westerly, and southerly winds, but it is completely open to the east and southeast, which can create a heavy swell inside. The seabed is sandy, providing highly reliable holding. The standard practice is to drop anchor in $8-12$ meters of water on the northern shores and take a line to the land, or to secure a berth using the lazy lines provided at the upscale restaurant's wooden jetty. Water and electricity are available on the jetty. Entry into the bay is straightforward with no hidden reefs.

Kumlubük is synonymous with luxury and gourmet dining in the yachting community. The centerpiece of the social scene is the legendary Kumlubük Maris restaurant, celebrated for decades as one of the finest waterfront establishments in Turkey. It offers a unique culinary blend, featuring ultra-fresh Mediterranean seafood, lobsters, and a highly acclaimed Chinese menu (famous for Peking duck and sushi). The social atmosphere is elite, tranquil, and sophisticated. Dining on the shore at night, beneath the soft lights of docked yachts, is the bay's hallmark experience.

The primary activity in Kumlubük is swimming in its crystal-clear waters and strolling along the expansive sand-and-pebble beach. For history lovers, the ultimate excursion is hiking up the northern hill to explore the ruins of the Ancient City of Amos. A 20-30 minute hike up a steep path leads to an ancient theater and city walls, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Kumlubük and Turunç bays. The rocky shorelines are also excellent for snorkeling.

Kumlubük boasts a dramatic natural landscape where the Aegean and Mediterranean traits blend perfectly. The mountains backing the bay are covered in dense pine forests, olive groves, and wild brush, keeping the air consistently fresh and scented. Culturally, the area is deeply tied to the ancient Rhodian Peraia civilization, represented by nearby Amos. Connecting to water and electricity is possible when docking at the restaurant’s wooden jetty, but space is limited. During peak season, booking a dinner reservation alongside a mooring spot well in advance is mandatory. A small independent mini-market is available near the beach. For major provisioning, fuel, or technical services, the main marinas of Marmaris town center are just 6 miles away. Its calm, pool-like water makes it highly comfortable and safe for families.
