It remains a legendary stop where sailors connect deeply with nature.

Löngöz is a deeply indented, well-sheltered natural bay located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Gökova. Technically, it stands as one of the safest havens in the region, offering flawless protection against almost all strong winds, especially the prevailing summer westerlies. The seabed is mostly mud and sand, providing excellent holding. The standard technique here is to drop anchor in 8-12 meters of water and take a long line to the pine trees on the shore. The very end of the bay gets shallow where a small freshwater stream meets the sea, so navigators must monitor their depth sounders closely when moving deep into the bay.

The highlight of visiting Löngöz is exploring the freshwater stream that runs deep into the forest from the end of the bay via tender or kayak. Gliding along the river under the shade of massive trees, accompanied only by birdsong, feels like an Amazonian adventure. On land, you can hike along the paths winding through the dense pine forest, or snorkel in the mirror-like, calm waters early in the morning to observe the peaceful marine life.

There are no marina facilities for water, electricity, or fuel in the bay. Since it is a completely wild natural harbor, ensure your provisioning and water tanks are full before entering. Mobile phone signals can be weak in certain spots deep inside the bay. With its wave-free, pool-like calm water and highly secure environment, it is the most comfortable stop in Gökova for families and those seeking absolute tranquility.
